Plot
Duck and Donald are exhausted. Henry getting stuck in the snow made them late and they had had to make up for lost time. They are awoken by a very fimiliar horn... Bulgy's. He tells them today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of 1941. He tells them one engine will pull the tree to the party. But he says, this year it's going to be him, a bus. Then he leaves off. Donald is cross, but Duck is rather anxious. Duck is fetching Gordon's coaches, when he asks Duck what's worng. He tells him about Bulgy. Gordon replies and tells him, Bulgy will not go near it. Donald meets James and tells him about Bulgy. He says about the same Gordon said. Donald has to take fish from the harbour to the shops in town. Duck takes coal cars to Douglas and Percy. They are heading for Vicarstown when they see a crack in the line. Bulgy unable to fit under a bridge is stuck. He told his Driver this was a shortcut and it was, but the bridge broke on him. Duck who has coaches carries the passengers Donald goes to warn appoaching engines. The Fat Controller is very mispleased with Bulgy. Engines coming by make rude remarks, yet The Fat Controller lets them as it serves him right. Diesel 10 clears rubble into frieght cars, and Duck and Donald pull the tree. Thomas has it when they arrive at the harbour and they set off imeditly, and they soon arrive. They feel very proud for winning Bulgy, who is now put on the side in a field. The bridge is now called 'Bulgy's Bridge'.
