One night when Henry gets ready to pull the Flying Kipper, Salty tells him a story about a ghost engine who once chased an engine off the ravine that Henry had an accident at a few years previously. After hearing of the story, Henry starts to become worried and too scared to travel through the forest. He hears several noises, with one of them being a scowling noise coming from an unknown source. That next second, the Forest Ghost suddenly appeared and he started to chase Henry along the line, with the ghost of the engine that the Forest Ghost caused to fall into the ravine in Salty's story. As the two ghosts attempt to push Henry into the ravine, the lamp on his train's brake van shines at the ghost engines' eyes, resulting in their defeat.

Trivia[]

  • The Forest Ghost's number '672' was also the number of an M7 class engine in real life who fell down a lift shaft and was cut up into scrap in 1948, the author stated that he did this because he wanted to non-canonically reveal what happened to the engine after he was cut up.
